Etymology

Coriander comes from an old Greek name koriannon, and one popular story says it links to koris 'bedbug' because the crushed leaves can give a strong smell; the same plant's leaves are often called cilantro and are used fresh to add a bright, green flavor. So, the name helps you remember the plant's strong scent even when you eat the leaves.
