Etymology

Euphorbia is the name of a group of plants and comes from the name of an ancient Greek doctor, Euphorbus, who used a similar plant as 'medicine'. That's why Euphorbia today refers to plants, many with a 'milky sap' that was used for remedies and can irritate the skin.
