Etymology
Tomography comes from Greek parts tom- meaning 'slice' or 'cut' and -graphy meaning 'writing' or 'recording', the same -graphy you find in photography. So tomography means 'recording slices', which is why it makes detailed cross-section pictures of the inside of the body.
