Etymology
Ultrasound comes from the parts ultra- and sound, where ultra- means 'beyond' and sound is what we hear, like in ultraviolet which is light 'beyond' the violet we see. It is 'sound' beyond our hearing used to make images so doctors can see inside the body, which is why an ultrasound scan can show a baby or organs.
