Etymology
Stereopticon comes from the Greek parts stereos 'solid' or 'three-dimensional' and optikon 'seeing', the same stereo in stereo sound and optic in optical. So a stereopticon is a kind of projector used to show photographs or glass slides, often making the pictures look more vivid or like they have depth.
