Etymology
Aminotransferase breaks into the parts amino meaning 'amino acid', transfer meaning 'to move or carry', and -ase meaning 'an enzyme ending', like in lactase. So an aminotransferase is an enzyme that 'moves' an amino part from one molecule to another.
