Etymology
Syngeneic comes from Greek parts syn- meaning 'together' and gen- meaning 'birth' or 'family', the same root as the modern word gene. So, syngeneic means 'from the same genes', which is why transplants between identical twins or lab animals with the same genes usually do not cause rejection.
