Etymology
The word sun-dried comes from two simple English parts, sun and dried, meaning 'dried by the sun'. A helpful image is leaving tomatoes or fruit in warm sunlight so the sun slowly 'removes water' and helps to keep them longer. That's why sun-dried describes things dried by direct sunlight to keep them longer.
