Surface Forms

lymphadenoma singular
lymphadenomas plural

Morphology

lymphadenoma = adenoma (semi-transparent) = lymph + adenoma

Formation is clearly lymph + adenoma, but it uses the technical combining form 'adeno-' and medical suffix '-oma' that may be unknown to non-specialists.

Etymology

Lymphadenoma is built from lymph 'clear body fluid', aden 'gland' as in adenoid, and -oma 'swelling' or 'growth'. So a lymphadenoma is a swollen or enlarged lymph gland, which is why doctors use this word for an abnormal lymph node.
