Etymology
Dissoluble comes from Latin parts dis- meaning 'apart' and solvere meaning 'to loosen', the same root as in dissolve and solution. So something that is dissoluble can be 'loosened apart' in a liquid and disappear into it, which is why it means 'able to be dissolved'.
