This is a taxonomic family name formed from the genus name Enterobacter plus the family suffix -aceae, which is not semantically transparent to an average learner.
Etymology
The word Enterobacteriaceae breaks into three parts: Entero- meaning 'intestine', bacteria, and the ending -aceae meaning 'family' in biology. So, Enterobacteriaceae is the 'family' of bacteria often found in the intestine, which is why it includes common gut germs like E. coli and Salmonella.
