The word rhombohedron comes from the Greek parts rhomb- and -hedron, where rhomb- is the same root as rhombus and means 'diamond shape' and -hedron means 'face' or 'side'. So a rhombohedron is a solid whose faces are rhombuses, which is why its sides look slanted instead of square.
