Although the word is formally built from classical medical elements, an average learner is unlikely to infer 'surgical removal of one or both testicles' from these components alone.
Etymology
Orchiectomy comes from the Greek parts orchis meaning 'testicle' and -ectomy meaning 'cut out', and the same root is in the flower name orchid because the plant's bulbs look like small testicles. So an orchiectomy is a surgery to remove one or both testicles.
