Morphology

The connection to 'feldspar' is clear, but the spelling change to 'feldspath-' and the less common adjectival form may not be obvious to all learners.

Etymology

Feldspathic comes from the mineral name feldspar, which itself comes from the German parts feld 'field' and spat 'rock that splits', so a helpful image is a common rock from the fields. So feldspathic means 'containing or relating to feldspar', as in rocks or pottery with that mineral.
