Morphology
exasperating = exasperate (transparent) = exasperate + ing
Formed from the verb 'exasperate' with the productive adjectival/participial suffix '-ing'; meaning ('causing great irritation') follows directly from the base verb.
Etymology
Exasperating comes from the Latin parts ex- and asper, where asper means 'rough'. A helpful image is sandpaper rubbing your skin, so something exasperating 'roughens' your feelings and makes you very annoyed or frustrated.
