Etymology
The word bass-ackwards is a funny, less rude twist on ass-backwards, where the 'ass' part is changed to 'bass' to avoid a swear. The idea is doing something 'backwards' or 'in the wrong order', so to do something bass-ackwards is to do it the wrong or completely opposite way.
