The word is a clipped blend of 'agitation' and 'propaganda' so the general political sense is recoverable, but the clipped forms and loaned abbreviation make the relation less immediately obvious to many learners.
Etymology
Agitprop comes from a Russian shortening of agitatsiya ('agitation') and propaganda ('spreading ideas'), and it was the name of a Soviet office that used plays, posters and other art to push political messages. That's why agitprop now means political propaganda, especially creative work made to influence people's views.
