Etymology
RNA is short for ribonucleic acid. The ribo- part comes from ribose, a kind of 'sugar', nucleic comes from 'nucleus' meaning 'centre', and acid means 'acid', so the name tells you it's a molecule with a sugar that works in the centre of the cell and carries instructions from DNA — which is exactly what RNA does.
