Etymology
Ni comes from the name nickel, which itself comes from an old German word Kupfernickel that meant 'false copper' or 'copper demon' because miners found rocks that looked like copper but would not give copper. So, think of a little 'copper demon' hiding a hard, silvery metal to remember that Ni is the symbol for the metal nickel used in coins and strong alloys.
