Morphology

Deuteromycotina = Deuteromycota (opaque) = deutero + myco + tina

Formed by adding a technical taxonomic suffix to a scientific group name; the Greek combining forms and rank-changing suffix are unlikely to be interpretable by an average B1 learner.

Etymology

Deuteromycotina comes from the Greek parts deutero- 'second' and myco 'fungus'. It was used for fungi that have no known sexual stage, so they were seen as the 'second' or 'other' fungi and were long called 'imperfect fungi'.
