Surface Forms
Morphology
terrorist = terror (semi-transparent) = terr + or + ist
The form is still built from 'terror' plus '-ist', but the online game sense is a specialized role label rather than the ordinary person-noun meaning.
Etymology
Terrorist is used in many online shooter games as the name of one team because it comes from terror 'fear' and that team usually attacks or plants bombs. So in games terrorist is a role name for a side you play, not a real-world label.
