Etymology
The word telegraphic comes from tele- meaning 'far' and graph meaning 'to write', like in telegraph and telegram, so it first meant 'writing from far away'. Because early telegraph messages cost money for every word, people left out small words and wrote very short messages, so 'telegraphic' now means very short and direct or anything to do with telegrams.
