The term is built by adding the combining form 'psycho-' to the already transparent word 'biology', but the resulting academic field name is somewhat specialized.
Etymology
Psychobiology comes from two parts: psycho- meaning 'mind', the same root as psychology, and bio- meaning 'life', the same root as biology. So, psychobiology studies how the living body, like the brain and hormones, affects the mind and behavior.
