Morphology
Etymology
Polyvinyl comes from poly- 'many' and vinyl 'a common plastic unit', the same vinyl you know from a 'vinyl record' or 'vinyl floor'. So polyvinyl describes something made of many vinyl parts joined together, which is why it is used as a plastic coating or material for pipes and films.
