Morphology
Etymology
Polyamide combines poly- meaning 'many' (seen in polygon and polyglot) and amide, a chemical name for a small 'link' between parts of a material. So a polyamide is a material made of many 'amide' links, which is why fibers like nylon are strong and useful for clothes and plastics.
