Morphology

The derivation local -> localize -> localizable is regular, but the sense 'able to be located/pinpointed' is a more technical extension of 'localize' and may not be obvious to learners who know only 'local' as 'nearby'.

Etymology

Localizable comes from localize, based on the Latin locus 'place' plus the ending -able 'can be'. So when something is localizable in medicine or engineering, it can be 'located' or set to a specific place.
