The surface suffix '-al' signals 'relating to', but the root 'litor' is not a common standalone English word and the form is largely a borrowing/variant (littoral/litoral), so the relation is recognizable but not fully productive for learners.
Etymology
Litoral comes from the Latin litus, meaning 'shore', and you can see the same root in the English word littoral. So litoral today means the coastal area where land meets the water.
