Etymology
The word cosmogenic comes from the parts cosmo- meaning 'universe' or 'space', as in cosmic, and -genic meaning 'producing' or 'causing', like 'generate'. So cosmogenic means 'produced by space', for example materials made when particles from outer space hit Earth.
