Etymology
Carnosaur combines carn- meaning 'flesh' and -saur meaning 'lizard', the same parts you see in carnivore and dinosaur. So a carnosaur literally means a 'flesh-eating lizard' and that is why the word describes a large meat-eating dinosaur.
