Antitauon comes from the first part anti- meaning 'opposite' and tauon, named after the Greek letter tau, so an antitauon is the 'opposite' partner of the heavy tauon particle. Because anti- marks an opposing form (as in antibiotic or antifreeze), this explains why the antitauon has the opposite electric charge to the tauon, is very heavy, and appears only in high-energy collisions for a very short time.
