The word is historically compositional from the bound classical forms anthropo- and -logy, but those forms are not transparent to an average B1 learner.
Etymology
The word anthropology comes from Greek roots: anthropos meaning 'human' and -logy meaning 'study', the same -logy you see in biology. So, anthropology is the scientific study of where humans come from, how they developed, and how they live together.
