Morphology
Etymology
E-LASIK combines the prefix E- (from Greek epi meaning 'on' or 'upon') with the familiar LASIK ('laser' eye surgery). So E-LASIK literally means a 'surface' version of LASIK, a laser operation done on the thin outer layer of the front of the eye, which is why it reshapes the cornea by making a small hinged flap in that surface layer.
