Morphology

transact = act (semi-transparent) = trans + act

Formally analyzable as 'trans-' + 'act', but its common collocational sense 'conduct business' is somewhat specialized and not fully predictable for a B1 learner.

Etymology

Transact comes from the parts trans- 'across' and act 'do', the same act you see in action or actor. So to transact is to 'do' something 'between' people, which is why it means to carry out business or an exchange.
