Etymology
Teleprompter comes from the prefix tele- ('far', as in telephone or television) and prompter (one who 'prompts' or reminds a speaker). So a teleprompter is a device that 'reminds' a presenter by showing their script so they can speak smoothly while appearing to speak naturally.
