Etymology
The word spammer comes from spam, the name for repeated, unwanted messages. People started using spam after the canned meat SPAM was joked about in a Monty Python sketch where the word 'Spam' was said 'over and over' and covered other talk, so a spammer is someone who sends messages 'over and over' until they annoy people.
