Morphology

right-wing = right + wing (transparent) = right + wing

A direct compound of 'right' + 'wing' meaning the faction associated with the political right; 'wing' is metaphorical but this usage is common and readily inferable.

Etymology

The word right-wing comes from the old way people sat in political meetings: supporters of the king or the old order sat on the right side, and wing means a 'side' or group. So right-wing now names the political 'side' that is more conservative, meaning people who want to keep things as they are and avoid fast change.
