Etymology

Photometry comes from Greek parts photo- 'light' and -metry 'measure', where photo- is the same start as photo or photograph and -metry is like in thermometer or a water meter. So photometry literally means 'measuring light', which is why it is the science of measuring the brightness and amount of light.
