Etymology
Octahedrite comes from Greek parts octa- 'eight' and -hedrite (from hedron) 'face' or 'side', the same octa- you see in octagon or octopus. So an octahedrite is an iron meteorite whose crystals form patterns of many small 'eight-faced' shapes, which explains the name and its look.
