Etymology
Mousepad comes from two simple words, mouse and pad. The computer 'mouse' was named because the device looked like a small 'mouse' with a long cord like a 'tail', and a pad is a soft 'mat', so a mousepad is a small mat for the mouse to sit on that helps it move smoothly and work more accurately.
