Etymology
Hemicycle comes from Greek parts hemi- meaning 'half' and cycle meaning 'circle'. A helpful way to remember it is to think of hemisphere for 'half' and bicycle or cycle for 'circle', so a hemicycle is a 'half-circle' and means a place or shape in the form of half a circle.
