Etymology
Glioblastoma comes from three parts: glio- meaning 'glue', blast- meaning 'young cell' or 'sprout', and -oma meaning 'tumor'. So a glioblastoma is a tumor of fast-growing glial 'glue' support cells in the brain, which is why it grows quickly and is very serious.
