Morphology
glaciology = glaci + ology
The word is built from the bound classical form glaci- and the clear suffix -ology, but the base is not a standalone everyday English word, so the meaning is only partly predictable.
Etymology
The word glaciology is made of the part glaci- meaning 'ice', the same part in glacier and glacial. The ending -logy means 'study', as in biology, so glaciology is the 'study of ice', especially glaciers.
