Etymology

Fluphenazine can be remembered by its parts: flu- comes from 'fluorine' and -phenazine comes from phenothiazine, the family of antipsychotic medicines it belongs to. So the name tells you it is a fluorine-containing phenothiazine drug used to treat serious mental illness such as schizophrenia.
