Etymology
The word dysgenesis comes from the parts dys- meaning 'bad' and -genesis meaning 'birth' or 'beginning', the same root you see in genesis and gene. So dysgenesis means 'bad development', for example an organ that does not form correctly or the infertility that can happen when two different species are bred together.
