Morphology
cardiology = cardio + logy
The term is structurally clear as cardio plus -logy ('study of the heart'), but the classical combining forms are not likely to be familiar to an average B1 learner.
Etymology
Cardiology comes from the Greek root cardio- meaning 'heart' and the ending -logy meaning 'study'. You also see cardio- in English in the word cardio, as in exercise, so cardiology means the study of the heart, which is why cardiologists treat heart problems.
