Etymology
Angioedema comes from Greek parts angio- 'vessel', as in 'blood vessel', and -edema 'swelling'. So, angioedema means swelling near the body's vessels, which is why it causes sudden swelling of the skin, lips, or eyes, often in an allergic reaction.
