Morphology

analytics = analytic (semi-transparent) = analytic + s

The word clearly contains the base 'analytic', but the modern noun sense for data tools or processes is specialized and not fully predictable from the base plus -s alone.

Etymology

Analytics comes from the same root as analysis and analyze. In Greek the parts ana- 'up/again' and lysis 'loosening' or 'breaking' gave the idea of 'breaking apart', so analytics is about breaking data into parts to find patterns and useful information.
