Etymology
The word VLDL is a short name for very low-density lipoprotein, where lipo- means 'fat' and protein means 'protein'. So, the name tells you it is a 'low-density' or 'lighter' particle in the blood that carries many fats called 'triglycerides' and is later changed into LDL, which is why doctors measure VLDL to check heart disease risk.
