Etymology

Reiki comes from the Japanese parts rei and ki, where rei means 'spirit' or 'universal' and ki means 'life energy', like the Chinese words 'chi' or 'qi'. So Reiki literally means 'universal life energy', which explains why today it names a healing method that channels energy to help relaxation and well-being.
