IgM is an initialism (acronym) for immunoglobulin M; its meaning cannot be derived from the individual letters by an average learner.
Etymology
IgM is short for immunoglobulin M, made from immune ('protected') and globulin ('a protein in the blood'), with M showing its type. Because IgM is the first antibody the body makes when it meets a new infection, a high level of IgM usually shows the infection is recent.
